Collection: Yamakawa Rattan

Yamakawa Rattan Manufacturing was founded in 1952 by Yamakawa Shichiro (now Yamakawa Rattan International Co., Ltd.). Yamakawa Yuzuru designed and developed rattan chairs, which won the Tokyo Governor's Award and other awards. The Trii stool, which he created with Watanabe Riki and others, won the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennale in 1957. Yamakawa Rattan's rattan furniture has won numerous awards, including a round rattan chair designed by Kenmochi Isamu, which was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1964. Since then, the company has continued to interact and cooperate with many masters of modern design, and its track record and reliability have helped Yamakawa Rattan occupy an important position in the era of modern furniture.
