Collection: Karimoku
Karimoku Furniture is a furniture and interior company that mainly handles the manufacturing, wholesale and retail of furniture for the home, and is the largest manufacturer in the domestic furniture industry. In 1940, the first president, Shohei Kato, took over the family lumber business that has been continued since the Edo period and established a woodworking shop in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, which became the roots of Karimoku. Initially, the company manufactured wooden products such as sewing machine tables, piano keys, and wooden television frames. After that, the company began producing wooden armrests for furniture exported to the United States, and acquired the skills of furniture manufacturing. In 1964, Karimoku Furniture Sales Co., Ltd. was established. The K Chair, a famous masterpiece chair, was born at this time. Karimoku furniture is designed and manufactured with a focus not only on the exterior, such as beautiful paint and sewing finishes, but also on the invisible parts such as the internal structure and assembly, and is designed and manufactured with the concept of "making use of the warmth and gentleness of nature and the vitality of materials." In addition, we have a department called "Seating Comfort Research" that studies comfort based on ergonomics and develops products, and strives to improve materials, ease of use, durability, etc. by introducing bioengineering and the latest electronics technology. All wood is thoroughly managed from the forest to processing and manufacturing, in pursuit of reliable quality. In recent years, we have been actively exhibiting overseas and continue to be active both domestically and internationally.
