Born in Milan in 1920. Graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1945. Designed numerous pieces of furniture for Cassina and Alfrex, and since 1960 has worked as an architect on urban planning, interior design, hotels, cinemas, and other projects, while also designing many pieces in the field of product design, including chairs, sofas, and desk lamps. Among them, Malalunga is known as a timeless masterpiece of the 20th century. He is also known as an Italian designer who focused on and quickly adopted the revolutionary plastic material at the time, and collaborated with many designers to create products that won several awards. He has become one of Italy's leading designers, with a wide range of designs from urban planning to lamps.
