Linen Hold

Linenfold, also known as linen drapery, is a motif resembling folded cloth or rolled up napkins. It was widely used in Gothic panel decoration and was popular in England during the Tudor period (1485-1603). It originally came from a Flemish motif. It is said to have been intended to create a kind of trompe l'oeil effect.
