Collection: Jacobean style
An architectural and craft style from around the time of James I of England. It has a strong continuity with the Elizabethan style, and is a mixture of Gothic motifs that emphasize verticality and what could be described as excessive classical decorative elements. Box furniture often features geometrical use of protruding upper cabinets called dental cornices and inset surface materials called fielded panels. Furniture with legs is particularly distinctive for its frequent use of twisted barley sugar twist and round legs.
