Yamagiwa

Founded in 1923 as Yamagiwa Denki Shokai, this long-established company has had a store in Akihabara since before the war, and once operated a nationwide network of electronics retailers, focusing on lighting fixtures, with its main Tokyo store in Akihabara as its base. However, after the collapse of the bubble economy, the company transferred its home electronics division to Ishimaru Denki and its music software division, Yamagiwa Soft, to Sofmap, and has since specialized in selling high-end lighting and furniture with excellent design. The company stocks top international brands such as FLOS and Driade.
