Collection: Ekornes
Ekornes is the largest furniture manufacturer in Scandinavia, world-famous for the Stressless Chair, known as the "best reclining chair." Ekornes was founded in Norway in 1934 by Jens E. Ekornes. Soon, furniture springs and mattresses were sold throughout Norway. Once the spring manufacturing base was solidified, Jens Ekornes became more interested in developing a new mattress to replace the mainstream mattresses that had been in use until then. At that time in Europe, mattresses with heavy steel springs connected to wooden frames were widely distributed. While looking for new mattress ideas, Jens Ekornes came across a mattress at an exhibition whose interior was made up of many springs connected by steel coils. Jens Ekornes thought that this idea could be applied to general mattresses and began development. Soon after, the Svane mattress was completed. The Svane mattress was a truly revolutionary item at the time, as it further improved the comfort of conventional mattresses by connecting many springs with steel coils. This revolutionary idea of internal springs was also used in sofas and chairs, and Ekornes made a great leap forward, steadily developing and growing. Among the Ekornes collections, the Stressless chair is particularly popular. Now known as the "pinnacle of reclining chairs," its items, which combine excellent practicality and functionality, are widely supported around the world. By perfectly combining many years of experience in furniture making, traditional techniques, and the latest ergonomic technology, Ekornes has created a collection that boasts outstanding functionality. It boasts overwhelming popularity and recognition among the many Scandinavian furniture manufacturers.
