Collection: Eileen Gray
Born in Ireland in 1878, she studied art in London and Paris before becoming a furniture designer and opening her own interior design office in 1922. In 1925, she produced her first piece of furniture made from steel pipes. She developed this idea into a fusion of modern architecture and modern furniture in the E1027 House in Roquebrune, which she designed as her own home, producing a number of masterpieces. Her method of using steel pipes, a cutting-edge building material at the time, in furniture production was extremely innovative and had a major impact on later furniture production. Her signature work is the E1027 Adjuster Table.
