Collection: Achile Castiglioni
Born in Milan, Italy in 1918. Graduated from the Department of Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. In the offices of his brothers Livio Castiglioni (1911-79) and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni (1913-68), he designed a wide range of items, from architecture, interiors, and exhibition designs to furniture and accessories. When Flos was founded in 1962, the Castiglioni brothers were invited to be responsible for design, and became representative designers of the Italian lighting industry in the 1960s. The "ARCO", with its elegantly curved arm extending from a marble base, and the "TOIO", designed using a car headlight, are now classics of modern lighting design. The two continued their design activities until Pier Giacomo's death in 1968. Until his death in 2002, the brothers continued to actively release many works for Flos, Zanotta, and other companies.
