Collection: Ruscha
A brand founded by Georg Schardt in Rheinbach, Germany. It was known as "Klein & Schardt" and "Schardt & Sohne", but changed its name to "Ruscha" in 1948. When Georg's second son Rudolf Schardt took over, the company was named after the first two letters of his own name. In addition to the innovator and businessman Rudolf Schardt, Otto Gerharz, who invented the Vulkano glaze, Kurt Tschorner, who designed the famous "313" series, and other famous designers, entered and led the ceramics boom of the 1950s. The mark is embossed with a three-digit model number, sometimes with a slash, followed by the size notation (1 minimum to 6 maximum). After Ruscha closed, the company name and many of its designers were acquired by Scheurich, but Scheurich is still known as a highly influential brand, producing vintage-inspired designs under the brand name "Ruscha Art".
