Collection: Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988)
A leading Scandinavian furniture designer who was given the title of "Professor" by the Swedish government. Born in 1907 in Varnamo in southern Sweden as the son of a furniture maker, in 1955 he won the Gregor Persson Prize for display design at the Design Scandinavia exhibition. In 1968 he released the Karin Chair, which won the L.F.Foght Prize and the Scandinavian Design Award in 1974. He came to Japan for the first time in 1974 and experienced the Japanese lifestyle, and visited Tendo Mokko to design a chair that would suit tatami mats and the body shape of Japanese people. He worked with the craftsmen at the factory to create the completed "M Series," which continues to be loved by many people today.
