Collection: France Bed

In the 1950s, Western lifestyles had not yet taken root in Japan. France Bed founder Minoru Ikeda began making beds, which were still rare at the time. The first product to be released was a split sofa bed, known for being "a sofa by day, a bed by night." This bed, which was improved to suit the small living conditions of Japan, became a big hit, and became the catalyst for Ikeda to start making beds in earnest. After that, Ikeda made regular trips to Europe and America to study Western bed making intensively, making beds that suited Japanese people by taking into account the differences in body types and living environments, and the skeletal structure between Japanese and Westerners. He then started the first medical bed rental business in Japan, and is also involved in renovating homes to create barrier-free environments and safe living environments.
