This is a vintage Quaker chair made by ERCOL, a long-established British furniture manufacturer founded in 1920.
The Quaker Chair is a redesign of the traditional Windsor bowback chair, with a striking sharp silhouette on the back. Its unique form is created by a beautiful single curve created by bent wood processing. With a high backrest and a comfortable design for relaxing, it is a long-selling design among Ercol products. The number of spokes on the backrest differs between the reproduction and vintage products, with the current product having six spokes and the vintage product having five. The elm seat with its impressive wavy grain is only available on vintage products.
A rare Windsor dressing chest that is also popular in the UK. A functional and convenient item that combines a dresser and a chest. The screws that support the mirror are wood screws, and you can see the high attention to detail. The first tier of the chest has a glass shelf that can be used as an extension of the top. A wonderful item with impeccable design and functionality.
Born in Italy in 1888, he became a British citizen in 1923 and founded Ercol. While manufacturing traditional British Windsor-style furniture, the founder of Ercol also broke with tradition and took on the challenge of creating new Windsor designs and timeless modern designs.
