Based on the concept of "harmony between humans, nature and technology," the company offers a wide range of office furniture that takes functionality, design and ecology into consideration. In 1907, two young woodworkers, Friedrich Hahne and Christian Wilkening, founded the company in Einbeckhausen, a suburb of Hanover in northern Germany, famous as "the chair village." The company was originally named "Wilkening & Hahne" after the names of the two founders, and mainly produced Romanesque wooden chairs, symbolized by cat's feet. In 1952, the company exhibited at the first Cologne Furniture Fair, where it was recognized by the Deutsche Werkbund (DeWe) as a manufacturer of furniture in the DeWe collection, which marked the beginning of its journey to modern furniture production. In 1954, the brand name was changed to the current "Wilkhahn." In the 1960s, as the need for office furniture began to grow, the company began producing functional furniture that was both practical and comfortable. Collections that became the precursors of today's excellent products became huge hits one after another, such as the "Chair 232," which allows the backrest to be freely tilted by separating the backrest from the seat.
