This chest sideboard is from the Chinese White series by G-PLAN, a brand that symbolizes British mid-century style.
This is one of the rarest models in the series. It has a bright color scheme and a sensual retro-modern atmosphere that is unique to the mid-century period. Not only is it beautifully designed, it is also extremely practical.
The Chinese White series was launched in 1956 as a "compact, space-saving piece, perfect for any room, hall, or landing." The brass fittings are an accent, and the elegant yet stylish atmosphere is characteristic of the UK. A rare similar series, Tola&Black, was also sold around the same time, but the Chinese White series is highly valued in the Japanese vintage market and is difficult to obtain.
The early gold labels were made between 1952 and 1965. The gold color was proof that the furniture was high quality at the time, and the label, which had previously been a stamp, was embossed with the gold logo burned directly into it.
