This is a daily spice plate by zen to, a Hasami ware brand.
Comment from ceramic designer Kuntaro Abe
I was once impressed by the way plates were stored at a mobile food stall. Many of the plates were rectangular so as not to waste space, but they fit neatly both horizontally and vertically, and naturally the small counter was crowded with many dishes. The same goes for cupboards at home; ovals are a convenient shape for storage because they are short in depth. Many curry plates are oval, and ovals are reminiscent of curry. Although they are called plates, many of them are shaped like bowls.
It's a bowl-like plate with an angle that allows the spoon to fit in if you scoop it towards the back or towards the front. We aimed to create a Hasami-like plate that can be used at the front of the dinner table by busy people and minimalists. (We are in the business of making tableware, so we would like people to have a wide variety of dishes...) The edges are thick and light to hold, and we've calculated them so that they stack well at the bottom. It's a product that you'll want to use to the fullest every day.

This is the first original brand launched by Nakazen Co., Ltd., a Hasami ware manufacturer founded in 1917 in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. While inheriting the spirit of Hasami ware that has been passed down since the Edo period, the brand proposes a wide variety of options in ceramics under the concept of "diverse individuality that meets diverse tastes" in order to pass on pottery techniques and their possibilities to the next generation. The brand actively collaborates with artists, chefs, writers, and other people from various genres, and continues to communicate with the modern age, where consumer needs are diversifying.
