This is the Tola&black (Librenza) room divider by G-PLAN, a brand representing the British mid-century style.
Tola & Black was released in 1958. Inspired by Japanese lacquerware, this series was developed in the 1950s when black-painted furniture was popular in Europe. It has a stylish and sophisticated atmosphere, and the beautiful color of the Tola wood and the contrast with the black paint and gold of the brass plating are eye-catching. Also known as the BB (Black & Brass) series, Tola & Black is still popular today, and is a rare and valuable series that is hard to find as it is in low circulation among G-PLAN products.
This is a storage partition furniture designed for the layout of central London at the time, where a large combined space was often used as a living room and dining room. The beautiful back finish, which takes into consideration the appearance from both sides, is unique to this furniture partition. The large-capacity storage and open racks create a design with a moderate sense of openness, making it suitable for a variety of uses in modern floor plans, such as a cupboard, living room sideboard, TV stand, and bookshelf. Although it is furniture for partitioning, it can also be used as wall-mounted storage without any problems.
