This is the Y Beach Chair by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son.

The Y Chair is one of his masterpieces and is the most popular chair in the world. The Y Chair's unique flowing form from the rear legs to the top rail, and the graceful lines of the top rail made by bending a round bar. The perfect shape even from the back, which captivates the viewer, and the design that makes the most of the texture of the wood, all show the overwhelming beauty of utility supported by traditional craftsmanship training as well as his genius inspiration. The Y Chair was named after the Y-shaped backrest design. The roots of this chair lie in the "Chinese Chair" that Wegner himself produced in the past, and the form that exudes a somewhat oriental atmosphere is a work that is no wonder why it is so popular in Japan. Each piece is handmade, reminiscent of a craft, so it is a chair that you will grow to love as it becomes more lustrous and beautifully transformed over the years of use.
